In 1988, the six brothers established Central Surf, the first surf shop in Puerto Escondido, Oaxaca, Mexico. Today they run two surf shops and manufacture their own clothing. A third shop, including Puerto Escondido's first and only surfing museum, is currently under construction.

The waves at Zicatela are known throughout the world as the
Mexican Pipeline. At least two international surfing competitions are held there each year, including the Central Surf Longboard Inv itational, organized by the Salinas brothers and Central Surf.
